Having said that, its clear that both (255,255,255,0) and (0,0,0,0) make background transparent. There are total 216 colors in true web or Web Safe colors. Where as when use rgba(0,0,0,a), the background color becomes more and more darker as the value of 'a' increases from 0.0 to 1.0. However High Resolution, HD, FHD and Retina Based LCDs/LEDs use 24 bit (True Tone with 16M colors) or 32 bit colors ![]() We can't view all colors on a CRT based Monitors. The reason was CRT were based on light projection phenomenon. By setting all color parameters to 255 and alpha to 0, you can use this formula to display white rgba. Earlier, when color monitors based on 8-bit color graphics ( 8 bit is 256 colors) were popular, designers used only 216 colors so that similar colors would be identified easily.
